Thomas Jason Bacon

Where does one even begin to find the words to talk about a friend's death?   I'm drawing up blanks every path I go down.

Yes, I could talk demographics on how I've known him and his family for 24 years.  I could talk about how close our families were growing up. I could talk about how Mrs. Bacon used to watch my sister and I when my parents had to work.  I could talk about how I was placed at his table for WJA's "assigned" seating lunch hour and he told me he was able to see my veins because I ate cheese.  I could talk about our countless hours at the pool.  I could talk about all of the hand written letters we sent back and forth.  I could talk about how he was an artist.  I could talk about the love that filled his heart.

I could talk about how I wish I hadn't lost touch these past two years. I could talk about how I should have had the courage to call him and check in when his mom gave me his number when I saw her at church in January.  I could talk about all the things I wish played out differently.

A little piece of my heart broke on April 2nd.  For him, this life was hard.

Until that bright and cloudless morning...

He will be missed.

Rest easy TJ.
